Ou acheter metformine in man. The main pharmacological effect is probably a decrease of sodium excretion (9). The clinical relevance of this decrease is questionable. It not possible to exclude its clinical significance from a literature review. In the present case, there were no clinical side effects.
The only potential benefit is a reduction of plasma concentrations potassium, presumably because of the potassium salts (see above) formed in the kidneys. Plasma sodium concentrations are unaffected, but they probably decrease in part because of increased renal tubular reabsorption sodium. These factors will result in a similar plasma potassium concentration as in non-treated patients (40).
A similar decrease in plasma potassium concentrations is usually observed when diuretics or potassium supplements are given, and we have not seen any increased risk of renal hyperkalemia during the observation period in present study (6, 8).
In conclusion, diuretics can cause acute hyperkalemia, with a lower plasma K m and a tendency for decreased urine osmolality. There are not yet adequate studies of the longer-term renal consequences frequent use.
